Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCEI) and its subsidiaries in North America, Europe, and Asia including Japan develop, produce, and distribute home-use game consoles and software. Through its businesses such as “PlayStation 3” and PSP® (PlayStation®Portable), SCEI is promoting the creation and market expansion of a novel form of computer entertainment which fuses games, music, movies, broadcasting, and publishing.
Exceeding a series cumulative total of 52 million units produced and shipped globally as of end June 2009, the racing & car life simulator “Gran Turismo” Series has continued to evolve with “PlayStation®”. It has received great acclaim from gaming fans, professional drivers, the automobile industry, and car fanatics from around the world.
In 2008, the GT Academy was established where participants are trained to be professional drivers using “Gran Turismo 5 Prologue.” The first gamer-turned-professional driver was born and successfully completed the 24h Dubai endurance race. We will continue to provide “driving experiences that surpass reality” that is possible only with the Grand Turismo Series.
In the 41st Tokyo Motor Show 2009, we will exhibit a test ride section in our booth where visitors can play the newest offering from the “Gran Turismo” Series, a car game for “PlayStation®”. Users can enjoy riding diverse cars from Japanese and international car manufacturers ranging from the classics and older cars to the newest models. If visitors bring their own “Gran Turismo” for PSP® software available in stores on October 1, 2009 and their PSP® to the booth, they can receive a special giveaway offered only at the booth. We look forward to seeing you there.
